You are welcome to Thailand.
The festival of Loi Kratong will be on November 2, 2009. I would recommend you to visit Chiang Mai or Sukhothai for this wonderful festival.
Loi Krathong (known locally as Yi Peng) in Chiang Mai which is held on the full moon of the 12th month of Thai tradition lunar calendar. (in November) Most people show worship to the Goddess of Water by floating Krathong decorated with flowers and candles into the rivers. Besides, they also let Khom Fai (sky lanterns) into the air as they believe that this could help to get rid of their troubles and they decorate this Khom Fai at their house and streets accordingly.
"Sukhothai Loi Krathong and Candle Festival" which is celebrated at the Sukhothai Historical Park annually on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month (November) (when the tide is high and the air is cool) In the old days, we had to worship to gods of the rivers and to avoid bad luck. To celebrate the festival, we make the Krathongs or floats in the form of lotus, have candle lighting and play with fireworks. There are also Nang Nopphamat (as beauty contest), exhibition at the historical site.
Have a nice time in Thailand.

Loy Krathong is held on the full moon of the twelfth month in the classic Thai lunar calendar. in the western calendar this usually falls in November. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days would be celebrated on the thirteenth of November How great if we are in a position to bathe the pantamit away !
