NSAIDs are inhibitors of the enzymes COX(Cyclo-oxygenase).
COX enzymes are responsible for the production of prostaglandins, prostacyclins & leukotrienes. Prostaglandins are involved in inflammation, pyrexia & pain generation, so COX inhibitors have use as anti inflammatory, anti pyretic & analgesic drugs. e.g: diclofenac sodium, ibuprofen
So I guess by COX drugs you mean COX inhibitors, in which case it is synonymous with NSAIDs.
Also there is a relatively new class of drugs which specifically inhibit COX2 enzyme. These have relatively less side effects than non-selective COX inhibiting NSAIDs.
Hope that helped.
