Islamics do have a point, how come muslim countries dont have one parent homes like the West does?

like they always have a husband and wife.

So why doesn't the West only have that?

Update:

only like what, 9 rapes were reported last year in Iran.

Compared to how many in the US?? So who is really getting abused. ;)

You obviously don't really know much about a woman's role in Islamic countries, and what the marriage contract entails. A woman can divorce her husband, but it carries a HUGE stigma of shame for the divorced woman - not like in Western countries. Even though it is legally possible for a woman to divorce there, her family will not be likely to permit her to do it, they will try to force her to stay married so that she doesn't shame the family. In addition, in Islam, the purpose of a woman is to marry and have children - they do not usually have jobs and most times are not highly educated (for, what is the purpose of them going into higher education or getting jobs, when in Islam, the husband is required to be the sole financial support for the family). Now, this even further complicates the issue of divorce because since the women don't hold jobs of their own, and women are not granted spousal support like in the West, most times their only option upon divorce is to go home to their parents since they won't be able to support themselves - and of course, their parents are going to try to force them to stay in the marriage. It's a whole cycle of issues that tend to keep Muslim women in unhappy and even abusive marriages. On top of this, in some Muslim countries (not all), it is law that upon divorce the husband gets sole custody of any children, as long as the children are no longer breast feeding. So, if a woman has children, she will be even further forced to stay in the marriage because she knows she will probably not see her children again.

And, as far a rape, there probably is less rape in a muslim country than in the West for the sole reason of women not venturing outside of their houses and the requirement for a woman to have a male from her family as a guardian. That being said, the number of rapes "reported" really has nothing to do with the actual number of rapes. In the West, a high percentage of women don't report rape because they are embarrassed or are afraid that they won't be able to prove it. Rape is a lot more stigmatizing in Muslim countries, thus most women wouldn't report it out of embarrassment of losing their "honor" and out of fear of not being able to prove it and then being punished themselves.

We have divorce that is easy to get. In a lot of Muslim countries it is very difficult for a woman to get a divorce and also divorce is still very frowned upon culturally ie your family will not approve, etc. Its just far more trouble to get a divorce and be a divorced person there for the most part. In one way that is good because people have to work on their issues but also can be very bad when the marriage is terrible or one of the people is abusive and the other isn't able to leave.

"only like what, 9 rapes were reported last year in Iran."

The key word in that is *reported*, do you know how many rapes in islamic countries go unreported cause the woman is too scared?! It's a hell of a lot!

Do you really believe just 9 women were raped last year in iran?!

"only like what, 9 rapes were reported last year in Iran."

-Yea, cause a women's word is not equal to that of a mans. I am sure more rapes happen there then are reported.

I also hear from Iran's illegitimate president that there are no homosexuals in Iran. Another outright lie. There are homosexuals in Iran.

  • I love how "if not reported"="didn't happen" in your eyes. You seriously think Iran is a place where women would feel at all comfortable reporting a rape? Wow. Just wow. Those who do are of amazing courage. Probably more than I have.

Because women in muslim countries are second class citizens and must take all the poo their husbands dish out; including whippings.

Because divorce is not an option, neither is seperation, under pain of horrible death.

Considering that women get stoned for being raped is that any wonder?

Because women are held hostages in their own home. They are to do as their husbands say, cover up, and are forced to to have sex even when they don't want to. Women are treated like dogs over there...
