Can a computer with a wireless 802.11g card access the internet through a wireless 802.11n access point?

I was at my friends house and i accessed the internet through his wireless router and all i have is a wireless g card but he thinks his router was a wireless n, but he wasn't sure.

ok while the other answer is somewhat correct yes it will work as long as the access point for the 802.11n is set for backwards compatible with G it should give u the option in the router settings to be for N only... N and G.. or N, G, and B
