A tattoo should be personalized and should mean something to you. It shouldn't be just a spur of the moment decision to get a tattoo simply for the sake of getting a tattoo. It cheapens the art that tattoos are, and you probably won't like whatever you decide on on the spur of the moment in twenty, thirty, forty years.

I disagree, I don't think all tattoos should have meaning. I have red rose on my right foot, I got this because I liked the design and I liked the idea of having a tattoo, the tattoo isn't just about the meaning, it's also about the experience. As long as you like the design of your tattoo and you find a good tattoo artist, don't let people stop you from getting a tattoo that has no meaning. Foot tattoos are painful so I'd suggest a smaller one if it's your first tattoo. Search websites like tumblr and pinterest, they have loads of suggestions :)

You should pick something that YOU love. Take some time to think about it, you don't want to get something with no meaning. When someone asks you why you got your particular tattoo, you should have a good story. "I got the idea off Yahoo! Answers" is pretty lame. I've been working on my tattoo idea for over 2 years. Go to diff tattoo artist websites, or visit tattoo shops to look at their work and see if there is anything that inspires you. Good luck!
