    all the answers are right ,but what it does is help to govern the amount of fuel the engine gets and it also helps to shift the transmission at the right time,and will also affect idle speeds sometimes,its very important part of the computer system on that truck for that to be right,or else you,ll get a poor running condition followed by hesitation in the engine and also poor fuel mileage,its basically known as the throttle position sensor,tps for short,but its needed item on that truck,good luck.

    A (TPS) stands for Throttle Positioning Sensor. It is used to monitor the position of the throttle in an internal combustion engine.
