A 16 year old can work some construction jobs, but not others (see source link below). Maryland prohibits working all construction jobs when 15 or younger, but less dangerous one are allowed for 16 and up. Marriage has no effect on ANYTHING to do with labor law.

Two things are required for a 16 year old to work:

    1. You need a work permit to work when under 18, no exceptions, even if married. You can get one easily from the Dept. of Labor: http://www.dllr.state.md.us/labor/empm.shtml

Note that you must comply with work hour restrictions: No more than 12 hours of work+school per day. Must have 8 hours per 24 hour period in which you are neither working or at school. You must have a half hours break for every 5 hours of work. This is a good thing, trust me.

    2. The construction company must be willing to hire a minor worker. An employer has the right not to hire people under a certain age for liability reasons.

Only if you're working for your dad in a family owned business, other than that, no.
