a radical is anyone with highly unorthodox political views.

a socialist is one who adheres to socialism.

in some countries like ours, socialism is very uncommon as a political belief, so people who support it are radical. however, in some countries they would not be radical at all. also, in our country, people who adhere to different unusual political tenets (like Nazism) would also be radicals.

socialism is communism. communism is an economic principle based on the principle of sharing--people make what they can, put it in the middle, and take what they need--but many people think its synonymous with totalitarian government. people disagree about the difference between socialism and communism, but you can almost always get away with using them interchangeably.

That is an absolute wretched, misinformed answer. Not even remotely close to an accurate description

Socialism = idea that the government should own and run some services.

The most extreme form of this is Communism, where the government owns and runs everything. (Not to imply that socialism = a step towards Communism. Because Socialists believe in democracy, and that the capitalist system is the best way to create wealth...They just have a problem with how capitalism distributes wealth; too much of the wealth goes to just a few people. Another difference is that Communists believe in violence to set up a Communist state; Socialists don't.)

Radical = A person who believes in major change. It comes from the Latin word for 'root'; so the radical believes not just in minor change like reform, but to change the very root, or heart, of the system.

Socialism is the opposite of capitalism which means that socialism is the "abolishment of private ownership." A radical is basically an extremist. Being a radical on the right wing means that you are a Right Wing Extremist, vice versa for the Left. Being a socialist means that you hate private ownership and you think that government should control everything.
