oh yes, I remember learning about this, as I've been sharing a bit on R&P, I was a fanatical fan of the Beatles while growing up and read a great deal about this rather odd period in musical history. I feel it really speaks to the far reaching impact the Beatles continued to have almost ten years after breaking up. In 1977 a Beatles song (Got To Get You Into My Life) reached the top ten, and when you think of Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire, the song sounded as contemporary as anything else on the radio at the time..

David V, thank you so much for this creative and highly entertaining post today. You continue to be one of the shining lights of R&P with your questions and support of our questions, and let's just say, any question of mine is not complete until David V answers it.

have a wonderful weekend, Mr David and thanks again for your efforts here!!

Hey Dave...thanks for the heads up on this question!

I've been a fan of Klaatu for years...their first album has always been my favorite. That 'Sub Rosa Speedway' tune used to get a lot of air play back in Toronto on CHUM...many people thought it was a new 'Wings' song at the time! If I recall, Klaatu were three DJ's/radio personalities from Toronto...they also had so many people fooled at the time..."the Beatles have re-united"...all the rumours, etc.

Here's my favorite from their debut...the only song off that album that didn't seem to have a Beatle's sound to it...

    Anus of Uranus:

'Octopus'...a fairly obscure late 60's-early 70's UK band had an uncanny Beatles sound as well...very cool...

I'm pretty sure that I had heard a couple of those songs before (California Jam sounded So familiar) and I had heard most of those rumors separately but had never put all of it together before. That is pretty cool and they do sound Very similiar to The Beatles! I can see where people would get that idea.

Thank you Dave, this has certainly been a highlight for my evening :)

Wow, I actually don't think I've heard of this before.

After listening to the songs I can see how the rumors started. They definitely sound very beatles-ish in some of their songs. Out of the tunes posted, my favourites would be Sub-Rosa Subway and California Jam. Thanks very much for all the links, David.

Thank's so much for enlightening me Dave an adding the link's to the tune's. I was never one to believe all the rumor's that were associated with the band's of that era because unfortunately most were true. Janis, Jimi, Jim, Otis, Cass and on and on. Hope you enjoyed your hockey game and have a great weekend.

    Thanks, my Rolling Stones friend!

    HUGS!!

I remember hearing this...and really hoping it was a missing Beatle Album and being so excited to hear Calling Occupants and thinking and wondering "Could it be?"

We found out after a bit, that it wasn't real...but sure made for some lively discussions!!

Thanks, Dave for sharing and helping me remember some really good times!

    Thanx Dave.

I can't believe how seriously these rumours were taken at the time, I remember when I first heard them, I thougt, good band but that ain't The Beatles.

    Great to hear again though,
