Peter Minuit became a German yet became a director of the Dutch West India Co. He reached vast apple Island in 1624 and acquired it from the Indians with beads, ribbons, and trinkets valued on the quantity of 60 guilders, or approximately $24. This grew to become the colony of recent Amsterdam (Niewe Amsterdam) in 1625. this is the date that looks on the Seal of the city of ny. New Amsterdam separated the English colonies of recent England from the different English colonies interior the south. Clashes between the Dutch and the English have been inevitable. England's Charles II claimed each and all of the Dutch land, and in 1664 he gave it to his brother, the Duke of York. The Dutch weren't arranged to combat the English, so in 1664, New Amsterdam grew to become ny. ny city as all of us are conscious of it (vast apple, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island) became based in 1898. in the previous they have been only separate boroughs, each and each with their very own jurisdiction. The state of ny became based in July 26, 1788.
