help me, how long will it take for a population of 6500 to reach 800 if there is a yearly decline of 900?
help me solve this rational equation, I need it right away. I know that it start with (6500)/(1+1600)= 4-1=3*800=2400.

6500 - 800 = 5700 (population that needs to be lost)
5700 / 900 = 6.333 years or 6 years 4 months
This assumes a linear loss over the course of a year.
