hilllizdante - Please relax a bit. Normal white blood cell (WBC) counts range from about 4,500 to 11,000 per cubic mm. In "bad" disease, the count may rise to over 100,000. It would help to know what your age and count are and why you are going to have surgery. If the WBC was truly anything to worry about, you would NOT be waiting to see a blood specialist next month but you would have been told to do so today or tomorrow. It might be related to the reason for your operation or even to stress. Whoever ordered your WBC count should have given you more information. Good luck.
