Since smoking and obesity comprise half of total healthcare costs?

    Because he likes to tell us that healthcare costs are solely the result of insurance companies' price-gouging...What's really going on is that, as you said, obesity and smoking - PLUS ridiculous malpractice lawsuits which allow people to run away with obscene amounts of money - are causing insurance companies' costs to rise. This cost is reflected in their prices and their denial of people with preexisting conditions - with the current state of things, insurance companies would die out fairly quickly if they tried to give people the government's definition of "universal and affordable healthcare."

    What people don't realize is we get it back on the other end in Social Security savings. These people die young. Clinton with his Whoppers and Obama's cigs will save us a boatload in the long run, it must cost a bundle having Secret Service running around with them the rest of their lives.
