Can the velocity of an object change when its acceleration is constant?

Please help! I know practically nothing of physics and Im really bad with math.

    well since its accelerating, that means its speed is increasing at a fixed rate, so as long as its accerlerating, its velocity is changing constantly.

    no because acceleration is the change of velocity so no it cant without changing the acceleration
