In the book The Giver, what happens if the kids don't complete the training by the time they turn 12?

My kid's homework question :-)

Update:

She has read the chapter twice tonight! I'm not trying to do her homework for her. I read it last summer but can't remember!

  • Very interesting book, I read it last year. I don't recall them saying anything about not completing the training by the time they are 12.

I'm guessing THEY WILL complete their training or they will somehow forcefully or Technically teach them thier training.
