How cache work in Hard Disk ?

I have 500 Gigabytes Western Digital Caviar Blue that have 16Mb of cache.

What is advantage of cahce ? It is matter with 32Mb or 64Mb cache.

Are they effect performance?

    If someone wants to get all techie go right ahead but for the most part the cache is a buffer. The hard drive writes to the cache while your computer is reading data from it. Yes the bigger cache on the disk the better performance.

    It speeds things up, but isn't worth spending extra money for.
