work out this maths problem ? please?
4 1/3 - 1 3/4
PLEASE show workings because i'm meant to, and i know this is classed as cheating, but i left my book at school accidentally and i have no idea ! thanks x

4 1/3 = 4 4/12
-1 3/4 = 1 9/12
4 4/12 = 3 16/12
............-1 9/12

4 1/3-1 3/4 can be changed to an improper fraction so its easier to work with.
You multiply the whole number by the denominator and then add that to the numerator.
4*3=12+1=13 and 1*4=4+3=7 so put those over the Original denominator i.e 13/3 and 7/4
Then multiply the denominators to get 12 that will be your common denominator so you can add them
once you find the common denominator just add
