What are the effects on society and the environment of manufacturing scissors?

I know a societal effect is violence. I am more focused on what are the effects on the environment??

    You have to mine the metal. It takes energy, likely from fossil fuels, to process the metal and form the scissors.

    Societal effect is violence? Really? What about cutting paper and fabrics and making crafts and clothes? There are scissors in every preschool I've been in, and I don't think they're promoting violence. It also makes mothers everywhere yell, "Don't run with those!"

    (Oh yeah, it's spelled insight. Unless you wanted to 'incite' violence, a freudian slip perhaps).
