How does a boot sector virus affect your computer?

what is a boot sector virus in everyday, casual words??

How does it affect my computer, and what do i do get rid of it?!

    The boot sector of your drive is basically the first set of instructions your computer gets when it is starting up. If you have a boot sector virus, it runs before your operating system (Windows, for example).

    Removing it depends on the virus itself. The first thing you need to do is identify it. If this PC is functioning, try running an anti-virus scan. If you are unable to do so, there is a good online scanner that may help with this:

    Even if the anti-virus software can't remove it, at least get the virus' name. Then, do a Google search for its name. There are often free tools that you can download to remove specific viruses. They can even repair some of the damage frequently. You may lose some data from the virus, but at least your PC will be working again.
