Call the office and ask them. Policies may vary from one hotel to another, depending on the management.

Most hotels want some sort of credit card associated with your stay, in case your bill ends up being larger than expected (stolen room items, use of the minibar, pay per view TV, etc.). Depending on the management, they might allow you to instead put up a cash deposit (for more than the price of the room, mind you) to cover any extra expenses or damages. Again, you have to call them to find out.
