I am not sure about most experimental but for the most groundbreaking and important are (in no particular order):

    Sigur Ros - Ágætis Byrjun

Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die

    Slint - Spiderland

    Battles - Mirrored

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!

    Ian

I used your link, because I am not familiar with that term.

What is there covers these bands -- but does not correlate with this list

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_post-rock_ban...

So, this is the best I can do...

    1. Wire -- "154"

    2. Throbbing Gristle -- "20 Jazz Funk Greats" (1980)

    3. Throbbing Gristle -- "2nd Annual Report" (1978)

    4. Public Image -- "Second Edition" (1979)

    5. Durutti Column -- "Return of the Durutti Column" (1980)
