Wow, somebody mentioned Rodan's Rusty. I listened to that album over and over and over in the mid-90's not long after it came out. JUst a genius piece of work. Same goes for Russian Circles "Enter", unbelievable as well. And everything that EITS has done is captivating.

So I'll throw these 5 out.

Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements. Jenny Ondioline is one of my favorite songs of all time, while I can't find a clip with the whole 19 minute epic, this one will have to suffice.

Mono- Under The Pipal Tree. While they expanded their sound with later albums such as "Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined" and "You Are There", this album keeps me coming back for more. Out of 250+ bands I've seen live, these guys are in the top 5. Here's The Kidnapper Bell.

Envy - All The Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead. Post-rock influences with Japanese screamo vocals, this album still blows me away. Full of passion and fury, these guys grab you by the throat and never let go. It's a fantastic ride as it's one of the few albums I own that gives me shivers. Here's my favorite track they've released, "Your Shoes and The World To Come."

From Monuments To Masses - The Impossible Leap In One Hundred Simple Steps. I picked this one up without ever hearing of the band before, the best impulse buy I've ever had next to The Pixies - Surfer Rosa back in 1989. To stand out from bands of the same ilk, they also incorporate news clips and quotes. Here's The Quiet Before.

Rachel's - Music For Egon Schiele. Containing band members of the afore mentioned Rodan, this album was composed as the score for a theatrical production about the painter (yep, you guessed it) Egon Schiele. While all of their albums were mesmerizing, this one semed to have the most consistent flow for me.

I've already named 5 but the 2 song EP by Slint has to be mentioned as well sice they are known as the godfathers of the movement. My favorite thing they did.
