Who made the first map of Continental North America?

    The earliest known European explorers to visit North America were the Vikings under people like Eric the Red and his son, Leif Ericsson.

    They would have made maps of some sort of their explorations, but if they are still in existence, I am not sure.

    Here is a link for a map that is a "descendant" of their voyages and probable maps, dating from about 1440.

    there were probably maps of some kind drawn by the native American tribes, long before European visits, so those were probably the first maps.
