Cost of 1 yard = $25.49
Cost 8 1/4 yard = $25.49 * 8.25 = 210.2925
Sales Tax 6% = 210.2925 * 6% = 12.61755
Total = 222.91005
Or effectively $ 222.91

8 x 25.49 = 203.92
25.49 / 4 = 6.38
203.92 + 6.38 = 210.30
210.30 x 6/100 = 12.62
Final Answer = $ 222.92

= 1.06($25.49[8 1/4])
= 1.06($25.49[33/4])
= 1.06($841.17/4)
= $891.64/4 or $222.91
Answer: $222.91
Another way:
= $25.49(8 1/4) + 0.06($25.49[8 1/4])
= $25.49(33/4) + 0.06($25.49[33/4])
= $210.29 + 0.06($210.29)
= $210.29 + $12.62
= $222.91

8.25 times 25.49 equels 210.29
now times it by .06 equals 12.62
add your 2 answers and you'll get 222.91
