Is there anything I need to know about Hood Piercings before I do it?

I'm thinking about getting the vertical one done.

Is there anything i should know before I do it?

My wife has been a body piercer for 14 years and the main thing she sees when changing jewelry for someone is that male piercers especially tend to use barbells that are too long. She says that you want a curved barbell where the gem sits on the clit not dangling below it. You should really notice the benefits of this piercing before getting to the door. If not then something was probably done wrong.

Watch for migration - make sure they get it deep enough.

Also, if you're already a "sensitive" person, expect it to get better/worse...quite possibly to the point of being a nuisance.
