They're the worst, what helps me is putting salt right on it. Its gonna sting something fierce but once thats over it won't hurt any more and will actually heal faster.

They should have something at the drug store to put on this, in the mean time don't eat anything acidic and don't bite on the sore or irritate it, drink a lot of water and it should go away shortly.
