    without knowing h(x) the best we can say is x = (invfunction of h)(-12)

    The value of x depends on the function h(x). Or possibly

    x= inverse h(-12)

    x = h‾ ¹(-12), provided that h(x) is invertible

    Nothing much more you could say.

    x = (negative infinity, positive infinity)

    or with any value of x in R
