same reason people believed the earth was flat, and the universe revolved around the earth.

because they believe we have the potential to make it fair. If it could be fair then why shouldn't it be?

Obviously a perfectly fair world would be boring. People want life to be more fair, not perfectly fair. "Why bother with fairness when everyone is just going to die anyway." Is a really lame argument. A defeatist argument!

  • It would be great if it was, but it could never be.

Tell me why it wouldn't be better if it was fair?

And to the above, there is no purpose of life. The greatest possible purpose to life is that we die (Which is one reason why it could never be fair, the main reason, nonetheless).

Because to some extent we all want life to be perfect and nice. Fair would be part of that... Life is not fair therefore its not perfect.

"Fair" is an inborn piece of information - kids don't need to learn it as they already know it. And perhaps life SHOULD be fair - why not? Why shouldn't it? When it's unfair, we certainly wish it was fair anyway.

Due to Ignorance. not in understanding the purpose of life.
