We know the anti-abortion crowd falls short on logic in this area. I have seen YA posters claim that all life is sacred, and in the next sentence make a remark about how they resent having to pay to support the child of someone who can't keep their legs together. Yeah, that's real pro-life and Christian.
Pregnancy happens. When the day comes that birth control is so effective and so available that anyone not wishing a child will not conceive, we will see abortion become obsolete.
I love the "there are plenty of people wanting to adopt". There are thousands of children living in foster care and group homes that are wanting to be adopted. Talk to someone working in social services sometime.
When we do not have children being support and cared for in those facilities, the claim of the need for babies to supply the demand of those wanting to adopt might be genuine. It isn't now.
Octomom is a perfect example of this skewed thinking. When she first hit the news, right to lifers cheered her for refusing to abort any of her fetus's. But when it came time to step up to the plate and figure out how to take care of these babies, they all scattered.
So she has become the poster child for government services.
