Wait a minute, you sold your D80 for a D90 or D5000? This is just me talking, but I personally would have stuck with the D80. It has much better manual features, and is overall a MUCH better camera than the D5000, despite its HD movie crap. But what still photographer uses that anyway?
I'm hoping to upgrade to an old D200 when I get [more] tired of my D60. The D200 is essentially the slightly souped-up version of the D80.
I consider myself an amateur and an enthusiast, but I would suggest you stick with the D80, D200, or if your budget allows it, god forbid, the D300. You may want the HD video feature, but you can always buy a GREAT camcorder that supports HD video for around half the price of the D90.
Hope this has helped. Cheers!
