Any crazy idea can be achieved with DEPTH of the characters.. the reader makes an emotional connection to the character, and becomes interested in the outcome of the predicament.

Make it mature. (As in no cheesy story lines) You can also make it more mature by describing in DEPTH the nature of all the aspects that are used:

Ex. The blue mushroom made marty strong.

    BAD

The mushroom was infused with a chemical found on the planet Veke. Apart from changing the colour of the mushroom to a light blue, the chemical had a profound effect on humans. Once it was eaten, Marty found himself remarkably stronger.

ANY ANY ANY idea can be sufficient when coupled with DEPTH

it depends on who you ask... some want more action, while some want more character development throughout the movie/series/comic, some want more of a psychological thriller (think Watchmen), and some just want a unique story, etc...

personally I prefer super heros to have more character development and with a unique story.

are you asking more about an idea of a good movie/comic? I can't help you think of your own, most creators come up with that naturally. good luck!
