where do i save an address in Gmail?

all i can find are contacts and that appears to be just for chat rooms

    They are called contacts and they aren't just for chat rooms. You click on the blue words "Contacts" on the left side, then you have the option to add your own. Gmail automatically adds people you email/that email you to your contacts, though. You can save a name to an address and make groups for "friends" and whatever you want.

    I hope I helped, your question was kind of confusing since you pretty much answered yourself, but don't think it's the right answer!

    it's not for chat rooms. go to contacts and at the top where the little plus sign is with one person, click on that. Then add the info and hit save and ur good to go.
