Stewart is a moron, If we had launched the Invasion he would be crying that Truman should have dropped the Bomb instead of sacificing so many American and Japanese lives.

    1. Jon Stewart didn't say that Dems committed war crimes. He said that Truman did, and apologized for that statement on his show the next night.

    2. F.D.R. didn't order the bombing of Japan. Truman did. Building the bombs wouldn't have been a war crime. Dropping them may have been.

    3. I wouldn't have apologized for saying that Truman was a war criminal.

The Japanese were ready to surrender before the bombs were dropped Truman just wanted to make a final statement, make sure our new toys worked, find out what they would do and scare the **** out of the rest of the world.

The fire bombing of Japan that the U.S. carried out before the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was barbaric and destructive enough to break Japan's war effort, and was arguably a greater war crime than the dropping of the atomic bombs, though the fire bombing got allot less press in the U.S.

    4. I personally don't care much whose face is on U.S. currency and get the feeling that Truman and F.D.R. don't care much either.

John Stewart is a talking loon. He is Al Franken with better hair. In short nothing he says should be taken seriously. Six months before Hiroshima we flattened Tokyo and killed 100,000 people. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the tail end of an incredibly furious bombing campaign. The Japanese should have studied Billy Sherman, if we'll burn down our own cities we'll damn sure burn down their cities.
