Recommend books based on what I liked?

Based on my favorite readings of:

The Bartimaeus Trilogy - Johnathan Stroud

Skellig - David Almond

The Telling Pool - David Clement Davies

Crispin - Avi

Ink Trilogy - Cornelia Funke

Silent to the Bone - E.L. Koningsburg

That Was Then, This is Now - S.E. Hinton

The Uglies series - Scott Westerfeld

...what other books should I read? I'm considering 'The Last Wish' and 'The Colors of Magic', but unsure if they're my taste of fiction either.

'The Last Wish' is a good book, could possibly be what you're looking to read. I would reccommend you reading 'A Gift From Above' by H.C.Paye it's such a good book, and since I've read most of the books that you've read, I'm thinking that you'll enjoy this book too. I've read it like a million times. It has drama, comedy, a little bit of romance, and it's just a great book. A real "Page-turning-attention-grabber".

Good luck in your search for good books to read!

I think you will love the his dark materials trilogy- ( the golden compass, subtle knife, amber spyglass) as long as you can get past the anti- christian message and just read it as a great story it is one of the most in depth explorations of an alternate world that there is. Unlike some series they get better as you move on and after a somewhat slow beginning I promise you will not be disappointed.
