Is Obama's Heath care bill socialism?

Why does everyone think the US will turn into a socialist country from the health care bill? What about schools, police, libraries, postal service, etc. that are all publicly funded?

Because of all these things, and many more, the US is already semi-socialist?

Why is our choice always between socialism or corporationism. How about for once we try true capitalism and real free marketism. See how that works

Perhaps if the President lived up to his promise to eliminate or contain lobbyists, we wouldn't be subject to the top industry lobbyists, pharmaceuticals, health care, insurance, and forced to play their corporation games by their rules.

The post office is a private company. Police and libraries are controlled by cities, not fed. gov't. Education should be county-controlled.

Part of the bill is socialist, the part where tax money is used for public health care. I doubt we will turn into a Bloc country because of it, but it is true.

While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my friend the other day, I think we found the solution. I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you are a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.

So here is the solution: When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well, bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax!

The health care bill by itself will not turn this country into a socialist state but it will go a long way towards that goal.

Article 1 section 8 has 19 enumerated powers that the government has. Health care, schools, libraries, and local police are not listed. The 10th Amendment says that anything not listed goes directly to the states. Massachusetts and Oregon both all ready have universal health care. Good for them, and I have no objection to it.

This argument about the police and fire departments being socialist is a faulty one, because they aren't federal programs.

Yes it's Socialism to the max. That is why we need to vote in the next election and remove all the democrats from the senate, don't forget this is our future don't just let a well spoken ***** throw down our throat some Nobama care that the hard working class do not want. Our Forefathers left England to evade high taxes. Don't let a Kenyan come to ruin this for us. Remember to write to our Congressman that if they pass the health care bill we want the country to be devided just like it was before. There should not be any war this time we just want to give the lazy their space.

It would be an economic nightmare!

How many health insurance companies will be put out of business?

How many do they employ that will be thrust into unemployment?

I'm sure most if not all are registered voters, that will never vote for a dem. again!

How much do insurance companies invest in the stock market?

When they sell off all those stocks what will happen to your already failing 401k?

So an answer to your question; intentionally deleting a whole sector of business so the government can run the same thing

would be a good definition of true Socialism.

Of course not - that's just a tag from the ignorant. Socialism would be if the government owned the hospitals and employed the doctors. Presumably no sane person would argue that Medicare is socialism.

There is nothing wrong to become social democrate having the best of both world. The poor and old are being looked after and the young & able are given all the opportunity to help and contribute to society as a community world. Many of such countries are doing well & good for their people.

semi socialist, yes. And look where it is taking us. Those who get the free ride want more more more, those of us who pay for the free ride want less. the biggest issue we have is the tipping point is close to being reached where there are more folks in the handout line than there are in the pay for it line.
