do you have to be in the military to go to west point military academy?

i was wondering because i was thinking of joining the army and i wanted to know. thanks

    If you're still in high school, then I suggest you to go to West Point Academy first (after high school), because after you're done with West Point, you automatically get into the army. You have to serve for four-five years. But, if you're done with high school and college, university, etc, and you want to go to the army, then you can just get enrolled in the army without going to West Point first. It's your choice.

    No, but once you make your arrangement to go to West Point, then you are in the Army.

    No, you can be appointed to West Point while a Sr. in High School.
