Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 15th inning to lead the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium Friday night. Only four other players in major-league history have hit a walk-off home run in the 15th inning or later to break a scoreless tie: Old Hoss Radbourn in 1882 (18th inning), Earl Averill in 1935 (15th inning), Willie Mays in 1963 (16th inning) and Adrian Garrett in 1975 (16th inning) .

This was the first time in the history of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry that a game was scoreless after 14 innings.
