Is there any law in texas that has to do with playing music in a buisness? I work at Baskin Robbins and...?

our owner said we cant play cd's and certain radio stations because we dont have a contract or the rights to play it. Is that bullshit or is he telling the truth?

He;s right, and lawsuits have resulted from it.

EDISON BROTHERS STORES, INC., Appellee, v. BROADCAST MUSIC, INC., Appellant.

Normal CD's are for "private use" only.

I belive radio stations are a different story, they're already paying the recording companies for the right to air the songs.

    BS.

The radio is free. As long as you aren't recording it you are ok. Same with a cd. As long as you paid for it you can play it wherever you want.
