When is the longest night in winter?

    Depends on whether you are in the northern or southern hemisphere. In the northern it is generally regarded as being the 21st December.

    Winter Solstice.

    As to the actual longest night of the year, then assuming you're in the northern hemisphere this year, it will be December 20 or December 21 depending on where you're located.
