Acer laptop won't boot up?

I have an acer aspire one and it keeps saying no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key. Now these laptops don't come with a cd drive so i put a fresh copy of xp onto a flash drive but it won't boot . It also detects my hard drive there. It detects that the flash drive is there but nothing. Can someone please help i'm stumped.

Is there an ipod plugged into the USB? The only time I've had an issue like this is when I accidentally left my ipod plugged in on startup. The issue was caused because the computer was trying to boot from my ipod.

If this doesn't help I'm sorry that was the only option I could think of.

flash drives are notoriously difficult to boot from. Anyway, sounds like your hard drive crashed on your laptop. If so, it'll need to be replaced and then you should use a USB CD/DVD drive to reinstall WinXP.

Sounds like the HD is bad or just not connected properly.
