How can I get my DVD to compress enough to burn on Toast?

I'm trying to burn a VIDEO_TS folder, but I can't seem to get it to compress small enough to fit on a DVD. It's a 5.92 GB DVD, and of course, the DVD's are only 4.7GB. No matter how I try to reduce what goes on the DVD, it still tells me I'm over my GB limit. I'm using the program Toast Titanium. Any help you can offer is great!

Update:

ETA: I also have a mac. :D

    ideal dvd copy can help you compress you dvd to fit a single layer disc and burn to it directly, follow the steps below:

    1)Insert your DVD to your DVD drive;

    (2) Insert a blank DVD into your DVD burner. If you have only a DVD drive, you can insert it after finish reading.

    Use DVD Shrink or buy a dual layer disk.
