what does GBP mean????? help plz!!?

on ebay there is an item im interested with its price ''GBP 8.99" what does this mean???

It's the English pound, the type of money used in Great Britain. Generally the exchange rate between the pound and the American dollar is 1:2. So, if something is one pound, it's around two dollars.

Ebay also lists the price of items in dollars when the item is listed in a different currency. Just look around a bit on the page, generally next to the "GBP 8.99" and you'll see how much it costs in dollars.
