What exactly is antimaterialism?

I need to know that for a reading assignment. :)

    Exactly what it says. Anti- is opposed to or against. Materialism is owning a lot of things. So antimaterialism is like being a minimalist. A person who does not feel the need to own a lot of material things in order to feel like a person. In fact they are opposed to it. Lots of old hippies were like that. Then we got into the me generation where bigger was better. Look how we are paying for it.
