Meditation is the way to know the real self by improving the level of the consciousness of the being.

There are number of methods to meditate but all the methods have the following common steps-

    1. Working on the physical body---

The first step in each method is the relaxation of the physical body by adopting a posture that is most comfortable to the being. The body is relaxed systematically to the point where it becomes motionless like a dead body.

    2. Working on the mind ----

After relaxing the body one becomes aware of ones thought process. Do not interfere with thoughts and after some time they will start settling down on their own. Now try to become aware of gaps between adjacent thoughts.

    3. Working on the breath----

After experiencing gaps one become aware of ones breathing. Now witness the ingoing and outgoing breath silently and effortlessly.

After some moments one starts experiencing peace and calmness of the mind never experienced before.

The methods that include these steps are safe but slow or passive.

There are many types of active meditations also but these should be performed under the guidance of an expert or in a group in the beginning.

There should be no thinking in the mind while meditating.

Meditation is always experienced through thoughtlessness.

meditation is when the attention becomes detached from thoughts and the thoughts are allowed to subside resulting in a state of inner silence. This allows the attention to move beyond the mind and connect to the oneness of all creation. This is the meaning of the word yoga. Yoga is the object of meditation.

Meditation is trying to unite the body, mind and soul by breathing and thinking. "let your thoughts be free while meditating" is the greatest misconception -- it is strongly recommended that you concentrate on your breath while meditating.

just put ur mind and thought to the breath going in and out from your nostrils and lungs. each time the mind waivers, bring it back to your breath (life force) -- notice how ur breathing becomes deeper and deeper...the more you practice, the more fruitful your meditation experience is going to be.

Meditation is calming oneself. You can sit at a quite place and concentrate on any thing in your mind. It can be om or light or anything you are comfortable with. It will not come to you easily but practise will definitely help. You can start with two to five minutes in the beginning.

Meditation is surrender your own self........Meditate on your own Self. Worship your Self. Respect your Self. God dwells within you as you.”

Fix up some time either early morning or night( maintain the time) Chant the mantra...which ever u are comfortable like "Om Namaha Shivaya" focus on your breath...Inhale and exhale.. while doing repeat the mantra....

Meditation is the practice of turning our attention inward. Meditation beckons us to unravel the greatest mystery of life -- that in this human form, we are also divine. When we still the mind in meditation we are drawn, like bees to honey, to the presence of God within. Touching this truth, our restlessness ceases and we are flooded with a sense of our own perfection and divinity.....

It depends on the religion. To meditate is to calm oneself and free your mind of stress. How to meditate: In the Hebrew sense to meditate is to relax while thinking about God's wonders. In yoga,is to release stress through exercise.in other cultures is deep thought. Some use drugs to meditate, but they all have the same goal in mind.
