For a sophisticated look maybe black and white stripes.

    -a dark red

    -navy blue

    -plain and simple white

Or you can try a color that both girls and boys like, which might not be so much of a girly one.

If you're in this for the long haul, like through high school and maybe even college, try a theme that is not just a fad, like "My Kitty" or "Strawberry Shortcake". HOWEVER if you DO like either of those, pick a more mature grand scheme. EG: Like the new Strawberry Shortcake? Use a light green (sage w/ a tiny bit of yellow in in, but not lime) on the walls and then a slightly dark berry type red for any trim, or a couple of items of furniture. Then you could use some 'flower' type things and 'strawberry' type things for the most of your 'knick knacks' and bedding / window treatment, and throw in a few of the catchy Strawberry Shortcake items. As you get older, you can keep the color scheme, and maybe add some same green and berry plaid for the bedding / window treatment, with a green / berry flowery bed skirt and valance, and remove the Strawberry Shortcake items. As you get older, you might want to darken the berry items to almost burgundy - easily done w/ out stripping any wood/paint, and change the green in the walls to a more sage color, also easily done. Be sure to add for pop a big silk HOT PINK and LIME GREEN pillow.

What I'm getting is that patterns wall paper on one wall and the other walls neatrul.

One rule - never ever paint your walls all grey or silver, been there, done that, big mistake!

Anyway what about that paper you normally get it in dark purple with black or grey swirls/patterns then the other walls the same purple?

I'm fourteen and I'm getting that soon - I said to my Mum can it be part of my Christmas but a early Christmas haha!

    Hope I helped!

I was about to say purple :)

I'm 13 and am going to paint it purple when I can (sometime this summer) and I also prefer anything but girly/preppy. As long as you accessorize in a way that says otherwise :)

I would do a plum purple, maybe with like, Lilac stripes? My old room is that color...and I miss it! It was sooooo pretty and relaxing; a nice place to do homework, which is vital for high school and alllll that homework!!!

Greens are good too....I love these colors....

i like greens. green goes very well with purples. i think it will look nice. like a sage. other than that, i would go with a shade of deep purple.

  • Lime green would be very cute!
