What are some programs and/or processes in Vista that are unnecessary?
Every windows operating program comes with pre-installed software and lots of unnecessary or little used programs that slow the computer down and use a lot of memory. Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP, I know what they are but Vista is so different, and I need a little help.

You are in luck, read this:
Look for the Vista part, he lists all of the services that can be disabled. I did it myself and got Vista smokin' on one GB of RAM.
Also, here's a good list of startups:

As far as programs that aren't needed, just uninstall them, but they aren't using RAM if they aren't running.
