Does anyone know exactly how much the pharmaceutical and insurance companies pay the politicians?
And does anyone know why health care costs continue to rise substantially? It has to start somewhere. Why on earth can the drug companies increase their prices each year, instead of early patents. Isn't 100 billion enough profit?
Sun-1.4 mil a day!!?? Sounds interesting. Where did you get those stats?
I will complain about it because individuals and small businesses should have the right to buy health insurance without worrying about being denied, dropped or not receiving tretament.
Yes-people should have the "right" to be able buy health care insurance. Just wait until a crisis happens to you or a familiy member.

Insurance companies alone are spending about 1.4 million dollars a day to stop this reform from happening. Sounds like they have some major profits to protect.
And Eli Lilly, alone, spent 3.6 million lobbying during the 2nd quarter of this year. That's just one company.
Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America have spent 22.5 million in the first quarter on lobbying.Source(s): PAC contributions: http://lobbyingdisclosure.house.gov/ http://lobbyingdisclosure.house.gov/software.html?...

Health care costs go up because of law suits, medicare/medicaid undercut financial costs, and it costs about a billion dollars to produce a new drug.
I don't understand why you people care so much about how much a company makes. If they save 100 lives how much is that worth to you? Would you rather them not save them?
Too much is made to look vile when it comes to profit. These drug companies hire the best and brightest scientists they can find. Would you rather them hire worse ones? These people require money. The research requires money. The equipment requires money. I was often asked when I worked in sales paying for college why a particular something cost so much... They ask this and yet have no idea how much it costs to make. If you don't understand why these people make so much money.. you shouldn't complain about it.
Healthcare is not a right.
You already have the ability to buy health insurance. My family has insurance.

So 100 billion is what the Insurance and Pharmaceuticals are paying (bribing) the politicians- I guess that means your not on the receiving of the money stick, huh?

1, health care cost rise, because doctors and hospitals charge more.
Insurance companies actually hold the cost down !!!!!!!!!
Political contributions from sectors:
Insurance industry - $46,635,720 in 2008.
The top 13 health insurance companies averaged 5% profits in 2007.
Pharmaceutical industry - $29,330,927
The tp 17 pharmaceutical companies averaged 14% profit in 2007
Now compare that to Trial Lawyer's, who gave $232,763,315 in 2008, 88% to the Democratic party.
The entertainment inductry made a 13% profit in 2007
The Apparel industrry made a 50% profit in 2007
The Software industry made a 23% profit in 2007
So it is not as cut and dried as most people wanna make it seem.
