First of all to the guy above ^^^^ that is a LIE and it sickens me that he wrote "the general thought." that thought was used to justify racism back in the day and is only still believed by very few mormons who aren't even real Christians. but.
There are many instances in the Bible where racism is preached against and discouraged (Zipporah and Moses' family, Phillip and the Ethiopian Enuch, Jews and Gentiles, Jesus and the Woman at the well, etc.)
God helped the Jews because they were His chosen people and that was part of the convenant, Read your Bible. There is a new covenant now, called the new Testament. People are racist, not God, and it is NOT His fault we can't live with one another.
Girl, Quakers, a religious Christian group, were the first white people to become abolitionists in the name of their religion! Read your history book. Jews were persecuted in a the Holocaust and there was no Exodus from that. Read a newspaper!
Under the Old Testament God said He'd protect the Isrealites as long as they followed Him and Him only. Through this covenant, God revealed to the surrounding world, His nature, beauty, strength, power and worthiness. That was the purpose of the Old Testament. This paved the way for the New Testament in which God used the people He chosen to produce Jesus, the Christ who would save all people from evil, including slavery.
