If you are actually 'aware' that you are experiencing this, It is good!
The core of your being is striving to 'seek' its very original nature, its own identity. When this effort percolates down to 'our' (mind's) level of perception (perhaps at a thought level too), it looks like it is trying to 'hear my story'. That is where it is known as seeking. Now, if misconstrued, this seeking could end up in a bit unproductive futile energy draining activities (that we see in our day to day life). Some people are not satisfied with what they have, and they seek more. In fact, the underlying factor is that this core being is seeking 'expansion' which gets wrongly translated as 'acquire' more, when a commercial mind interprets. Eventually, some time or other, this mind gives up out of fatigue. (Perhaps that is why, the great ancient master started his book on spirituality with that strange looking words as opening sentence "And now, Yoga" . Yoga means uniting. The core of the being trying to unite with its original form. It is already one with the original, but the wrong identification with physical body, creates and illusion of 'separation', and now it 'seeks' its own story from the outer world ! The process of merely knowing the story would dispel the misconception, and realisation would dawn that it is already one with the universal! That is why they call it 'self-realisation'.
I proceeded to answer it, knowing well the limitations of words (in addition to my own limited abilities) , while trying to explain the 'story'. So please try to find a way to pardon any shortcomings.
