Ending of The Bridge on the River Kwai?
Finally got around to seeing it all the way through, and it lived up to the hype. 10/10
But, I've got a question about the very end. Major Warden (the guy with the hurt ankle) turns to the female helpers and says something like "I had to, they would have been capture." or something like that. Did he shoot the Nicholson (Guiness) and Shears (Holden)? Until he said that, I assumed they were shot by the Japanese.
Update:
oops. i meant "captured".

It's been so long since I saw the movie. I think he shot them because the Japanese would have tortured them.
